Mono-material
Examples: 100% PP, PE, PET, HDPE bottles
Item is made from a single, readily-recyclable, plastic. All components in the item must be this one resin type. Items may or may not be made from PCR material.
By being made from a single, readily-recyclable plastic, end consumers can "Rinse, Sort and Recycle" this item with ease.

Refillable
Examples: Refillable, removable or replaceable pods, pouches, cartridges, and other components within a product such as a lipstick bullet, platforms for compacts, and replaceable inner bags for lotions and cleansers
Allows reuse of a product by replacing an item's contents in original packaging to reduce consumer waste.

Plastic Alternatives
Examples: Glass, metal, paper
Generally recyclable and considered less impactful on the environment, some or all components of this item can be made of glass, metal or paper.

Plastic Pumps
Examples: PP, PE
Pumps made without any metal springs or metal or glass valves.
(sty-POMfree).jpg)
Styrene and POM Free
Examples: PET, PETG, POK, PBT
1) Styrene = SAN / AS / ABS / PMMA PS
2) Replace POM with POK or PBT
3) Replace styrene with PET / PETG

98 Mono
Examples: Mono-material compacts with a pinned metal hinge or mirror; Mono-material plastic pumps with metal spring; Mono-material applicators with nylon doe foot
Primarily made from a single plastic type. A small percentage of the overall product weight is attributed to a specialty sub-component made from an alternate material, such as a spring, wiper or applicator, which if made from the primary material would substantially degrade the package performance.

Bio-resin
Examples: BioPET, Sugarcane PE, PLA resins, starch-based thermoplastics, Epoxidized Linseed Oil (ELO), polysaccharide-rich plants and algae
Additionally known as 'bio-plastics' or plant-based resins.
Manufactured from renewable biodegradable sources such as plants, corn, and sugarcane, and possess 'end of life' biodegradable and compostable properties.
Bio-Resin is available for most items.

Biodegradable
Examples: PLA, PLA+PHA, PLA+PBS, bio-based PE (polyethylene), bio-based PET, bio-polyamide (PA)
Also made from natural materials but can be broken down into smaller pieces over time, unlike bio-resins, and may not fully decompose into natural elements.
These resins are biodegradable according to ASTM D6400 testing standard. Carbon molecules in these plastics may be from plants or petroleum, there is no restriction.
Biodegradable resin is available for most items.

PCR resin
Examples: Recycled PP, PE, PET, HDPE most commonly
PCR (Post Consumer Resin) is the technical term for recycled plastic resin made from traditional plastic materials that have been sorted, sterilized, reground, and repurposed to be used again for manufacturing purposes.
Post-Consumer Recycled resins come from a reliable, professional supplier of PCR resin with a stable supply chain. These resins meet heavy metal and FDA food safety standards and have all the relevant documentation.
PCR Resin is available for most items.
